Miller Park Amphitheater in Fontana, California, underwent a significant transformation to become a premier entertainment destination for the community. The project introduced a permanent 2,000-square-foot covered stage, replacing the previous portable stage, and added a turf-grass performance viewing area with berms for elevated viewing. New concrete walkways, a paved dance floor, and a decorative splash pad were also incorporated to enhance the park’s functionality and aesthetic appeal. The splash pad, in particular, serves as a focal point, attracting families and visitors to the park.
The splash pad’s design draws inspiration from the intricate patterns found on San Bernardino’s largest library, located adjacent to the site. Artist Amanda Conahan incorporated gold, yellow, and blue tiles imported from Mexico, along with iridescent tiles, to create a vibrant and reflective surface. This design choice not only pays homage to the local cultural heritage but also enhances the visual appeal of the splash pad, making it a popular spot for both children and adults. The integration of Lithomosaic technology ensured the durability and longevity of the installation, allowing it to withstand the elements while maintaining its vibrant colors and intricate patterns.
